It has been a while since I blogged - courtesy my vacation, a little testing times personally, my newly acquired habit of sleeping for long hours and a little busy work schedule (not really though!!!).Though I have been thinking for a while about writing, something kept me away - the usual laziness of mine...And when I finally shrugged it off to write one the best thing I could think of is my habit of being consistently inconsistent....So here I am writing some of my aims, ambitions, dreams and hobbies.... There was one thing in common - I pursued none of them seriously...
As my memory dates back to 1991, I was in class III and I remember my first major aim was to maintain a pencil without losing /breaking it for atleast a week...Invariably I never succeeded and very soon I changed my aim to something different like maintaining my uniform clean or shoes intact...As I moved to higher classes (IVth, Vth) my aims were to keep my pens' nib intact.I still remember my parents always bought two nibs being very sure that I wud somehow break one. Soon the herculean task like keeping the school bag untorn came in... and alas... I failed again.....
The strange fact is that I still have my first geometry box (since 4th std), fountain pen that I used from 8th std to graduation, A reynold s jetter from 2002 to till date!!!!!!!!!
It was in this juncture(1993) that me and some of my very good friends in the class V(Suman Prabhu, Umar Farooq, Theodar Pratap, Suguna, Maraswamy) had a common dream!!!!!..I still wonder why we had such a dream - to leave DEMS and join CFHSS!!!! a bad one, just for the sake of a saturday holiday....While this bad dream came true for me, Suman and Maraswamy, Theoder and Umar were fortunate to be in DEMS for another 5 years..(Poor Suguna died in a bus accident while coming for entrance exam only!!).Certainly I dont consider this as dream came true, after all I didnt know this would be such a bad turning point in life...
There was very little as my achievements in the next 5 years and none in the subsequent two years... If passing SSLC and 12th are called achievements then most people would laugh if not all.But I would call them so...SSLC was achievement because I topped the school and 12th because I passed with the percentage that I had promised my parents I would get..I too graduated with a Bachelor's degree with distinction - Achievement or not???????? I would say yes....
Joining CFHSS was the only dream that lasted till it became true.. Most of my other dreams were short lived and most were only day dreams... My ambitions were even worse - they changed faster than the seasons and months, particularly between 1996 to 1999...When I won a couple of painting competitions, I dreamt of being a better painter than my master. Harsha Bhogle, Geoffrey Boycott, Tony Craig, Richie Benaud and Bill Lawry inspired me to think of being a cricket journalist. Bowlers like Harvinder Singh, Debasis Mohanty, Abey Kuruvilla and Dodda Ganesh were Indian pace bowlers then and I thought I was probably the "superfast" bowler for future India - after all like these names I should also join MRF pace academy... thats it... This dream vanished the day I learnt about the money involved to get into such academies and every street in the country will have a dozen dreaming like me...
It was in 1998 (class 11th) that I came to know places like National Defence Academy(NDA) Pune and Indian Military Academy (IMA) Dehradun existed through my friends Jayakrishnan, Anantharaman, Daniel Eric and Karthik who were preparing for exam. It felt good to tell people " I am preparing for NDA" but this ambition didnt last that long even!!!! It disappeared the day I tried to solve a problem in that NDA preparation book.. Even today I wish to visit the IMA which is just few hours away from here...(near yet so far????)
By 1999 my aim/dream/ambition became fixed for the first time - to pass 12th and get a B.Sc admission in some college!!! (BE or MBBS was never in day dreams even) and I managed to do it successfully..Post 2000 I had learnt to dream small and was extremely happy when happened.. Living in banglore, travel by flights, visiting various places - all these happened!!!!
I would love to own a LANCER someday, visit the Alps and the Himalayas, always loved Pets and wish to have many... And may be watch a cricket match at the WACA - Perth, MCG and the Lord's.....after all its all dreams.....
good one man.. :) i loved it..
